Some seeds and spores in the fridge, some sprouting in the soil.

We can’t rely on Seed Banks like Svalbard or tech companies like Monsanto to provide for the future of psychoactive plants and fungi. We should all get involved in the future of these amazing organizsms by experimenting ourselves with crossing and breeding them responsibly and with vision and innovation. That means going both recreating the past and blazing trails for the future. Cloning and Monoculture are short term solutions, to truly progress, the plants and fungi must evolve using sexual reproduction and/or the latest in Genetics science.

An example: For years companies have worked on developing the hottest peppers possible, but it was amateur enthusiast breeders like this genius

who routinely came up with plants that produced new strains with the hottest peppers on record.

And now heirloom vegetables and ancient varieties have made a comeback as well, leading us back to the seed banks of old, scanning the planet for interesting varieties to add into the mix.

I predict that amateurs, semi-professionals, and small businesses will be the trendsetters and have a great share of breathroughs in future developments — because profit and capital cannot exceed the potential of drive and passion.
